  1. Is this site functional? I can't find any comments past Sep, 2014, even though I know I made one a month or two ago.

  2. The link to the solution of 13.24b is missing a ".html" suffix and thus doesn't work.

    1. These links were to an Oxford University site which I have no control over. I will contact them and ask if it is possible to have access to the original solutions. The number of exercises they contributed was very small thank goodness.

    2. Found them and restored links to 2.1, 2.2 - 2.5, 2.6 - 2.8, and 3.1-3.4.

  4. Links to deant's solutions to problem 19.20 are set to his 19.18 solution instead. This is true for both the pdf and docx links.

  5. Exer. 22.3 links to 21.16 rather than 22.3. Also, there is no link to Exer. 22.6b by Roberto.

  8. vasco did us all a wonderful favor by undertaking this task of organizing the solutions. Just from what little I have done, I know that it was an extraordinarily time-consuming task, and I thank him so much for doing it. Even with a few overlooked links, he has helped my reading of the book so much by saving me much time hunting.

There are more overlooked links beyond Chapter 22 and whoever continues this task can find them as well as I, so I'm not going to document any more.

If vasco can reopen his site so that new readers such as myself can make postings, that would be great, but I recognize that it is a daunting task to maintain such a site. If someone has access to some site that might last for several more years, I would be happy to contribute many of my own solutions including problems that no one has yet posted for and also updates and corrections I have found to existing solutions. I am also sure that I have made my share of mistakes and would welcome reviews so that I can continue to learn this stuff. -- MatrixBud, vwx@sbcglobal.net

  9. Hi matrixbud
Thanks for all your positive and encouraging comments above. As soon as I can I will make good all the broken/missing links that you have pointed out.
I had thought myself that it would be a good idea to have a site where people like you could continue to contribute to the exercises in RTR, and I will now consider doing so.
    Thanks again
PS I do not check this blog everyday and so sometimes it may take a few days before I reply to your comments.

  13. Vasco,

I twice tried responding to your last post to me which, strangely, you posted in the 2009 Welcome directory. Each time my post had disappeared by the next day. So, I thought I would try posting now in your 2014 directory. I hope this post sticks. If it does, I'll provide a link to my solutions. I also discovered another web page of solutions that you may be interested to know about.

  16. Hi everybody
It seems that Bud Simrin has been having some problems posting on this blog. As far as I know this is nothing to do with the way I have set this blog up. It is completely open to anyone who wants to contribute.
Thanks to Bud for going on to the Blogger forum to try and sort his problem out, and to Chuck Croll for helping him out. If you follow the link in Chuck's post of September 28, 2015 at 7:37 PM, you will be able to see what problems Bud has been experiencing and maybe contribute some thoughts of your own. I hope it all gets sorted soon.

  17. Hi Bud
I thought you wanted to submit some links to your solutions and some others you had found. Please go ahead now that posting seems to be working OK.

  18. Vasco,

I have tried and tried. Perhaps you could email me directly at vwx@sbcglobal.net, so that I can contact you directly. I'll post this short comment from time to time and maybe one day it will stick. P.S. I even get confirmation emails from google that I have posted, but the posts are erased nonetheless.

Are you there? I don't understand why you have so many problems. What browser are you using? Have you tried posting on other Blogger blogs? With what results?

  19. I think this is probably related to the fact that Google want everyone to post comments through google+. I have had to remove Google+ commenting from by blog as once set up with wont allow any other comments.

  21. Hi, Finn,

I just download a random file from chapter 5. Could you be more specific about which files you cannot access? If all of them, then have you tried a 2nd (or a 3rd) browser? Sometimes web sites work better with one than another.

Dear guys. I am very recently reading RTR and following the solutions to the problems. It is amazing the great job you are doing.
The case is that since a couple of days the links to http://roadtoreality.info/archive are broken. Could anybody fix that? Thanks

  24. The site is still down. Can't access the forum posts through the internet archive, either.

  26. Dear Vasco
The links to http://roadtoreality.info/archive are broken again, and neither can we open links from https://sites.google.com/site/vascoprat/rtr-solutions, it seems there was a server problem. Could you fix that? Thanks

  27. I don’t know if you have access to my web page on github: https://github.com/matrixbud/Road-To-Reality. I have my solutions to problems up to Chapter 13 worked there. Also, I downloaded ALL of the worked problems on Vasco’s site prior to his taking over, and I downloaded all of the solutions from Roger Penrose's original website (only just a few were worked).

I have put them in my Dropbox public website where all I have to do is add the name andemail address of anyone who wants access. Please contact me privately at budsimrin@sbcglobal.net as I have had a hard time posting on Vasco's web site. Maybe that will help. Also, as I am getting old, my site is bound to disappear one of these years so it would be good if others could download all of the files and perhaps provide alternate web sites for this.

  28. I think the link below to my Dropbox public web page with all the RTR solutions will work for anyone. I don't believe I have to give individual permissions. Feel free to pass this link around for the times when Vasco's official site is down.

On my personal GitHub website I have worked a lot of problems that do not have answers on the official site. As I said above, I only worked through Chapeter 13. That site is

    https://github.com/matrixbud?tab=repositories

My github site also has a Mathematica page with a Clifford Algebra package that performs all of the tedious algebra for geometric products, wedge products, inverses, and much more. Please feel free to download that package.
